PhD student @ UW Madison (social media+political/civic engagement). Former ad agency media strategist. Mac fanatic, music & media junkie.
ker·fuf·fle (k&r-'f&-f&l): DISTURBANCE, FUSS, from Scots car- (probably from Scottish Gaelic cearr wrong, awkward) + fuffle to become disheveled.
My partner and I live in semi-rural Wisconsin near Madison. We came up here after many years in Chicago, and share a small farm with five horses, a miniature donkey, two dogs, and five cats.
For more than 25 years, I worked in the advertising business as a media strategist. Most of those years were spent with DDB in Chicago, dating back to when it was known as Needham. I did a brief stint at DDB LA in the early 90s but Chicago lured me back. We moved to Wisconsin in 2004, when I joined a small agency in Madison. While fun, it wasn't very challenging, so I headed back to school in pursuit of an MS in mass communications. These days I am working toward my PhD at the University of Wisconsin, with a focus on new media, social networks and political communication. For now. The plan is to take that degree and land a college-level teaching position. Or become a barista at Starbucks.
I'm one of those people who was a disinterested moderate Republican until sometime in the middle of the Clinton administration... about the time the Republicans began to savage the guy for no valid reason other than they hated him.
My love of the media, growing interest in politics, relocation to Madison, and my fascination with all things Internet have converged... and Kerfuffle was born.
