McCain asks for "only absolutely essential business" at the convention. Delegates decide parties are absolutely essential.

Yeah, I'd probably have gone out too.  I mean, who can argue with free booze and eats and the party with a band called Hookers and Blow playing?

Apparently, the Republicans decided Senator McCain only meant a cancellation of actual convention activity, not the partying.

Law enforcement in the Twin Cities area apparently decided that it was also OK to go ahead and bust into homes and take people into custody pre-emtively, because they were going to, you know, protest and stuff. See what happens when you don't let Tim Pawlenty be the VP candidate? He just goes nuts and suspends the Bill of Rights in his state.

The people at The Up Take, a citizen journalist cooperative, have all kinds of video documenting the busts, including the "oops, wrong house variety," on their site. Free speech, or even thinking about it, seems to be temporarily suspended in the St. Paul area.  But, hell, party on, elephants!
